This December, the multiplatinum star will light up Chicago’s Auditorium Theatre with a highly anticipated holiday concert. Accompanied by the Chicago Philharmonic, the show will feature songs from her festive album Merry Christmas, Love. Tickets for the December 18 event are now available for purchase.
In an exclusive interview, Joss Stone shared her thoughts on the upcoming performance, advice for aspiring artists, and how she channels her artistic expression into meaningful work.
What Can Fans Expect from Your Holiday Concert?
“If they’ve listened to the album Merry Christmas, Love, they can expect to hear the entire record with a gorgeous orchestra behind us. It’s truly festive and gets you in the Christmas spirit. We’ll also perform some of my hits, making it a little party as well. But the main focus of the show is to bring classic Christmas vibes. That’s the reason I made the album and why I’m doing the concert. It’s such a beautiful time of year to share that joy,” Stone explained.
Why Did You Choose Chicago as One of the Locations for This Concert?
“Chicago is a fantastic place to feel the Christmas spirit. It’s always cold and sparkly, which adds to the festive atmosphere. I’ve been there during the holiday season a few times, and it just exudes magical energy, which makes it the perfect choice,” she said.
Memories from Creating Merry Christmas, Love
Stone reflected on a very personal connection to her album, revealing that she was pregnant during its creation. “I was expecting my second child, Shack, at the time. For me, Christmas becomes magical because of children. When I was recording the album, I knew I was carrying a boy, and I was choosing his name while singing these Christmas songs. It was such a special, wholesome experience,” she shared.
Balancing Art and Advocacy
Joss Stone has often used her platform to speak out about social and humanitarian causes. “When I write songs, I pour out whatever I’m feeling. If there’s a global issue on my mind, I’ll write about it. Music is a powerful way to express emotions and connect with others. Whether people agree with the message or simply find comfort in the lyrics, music has the unique ability to bring people together,” Stone said.
Advice for Aspiring Artists
For those looking to enter the music industry, Stone offered heartfelt advice. “Write down your reason for pursuing music and never forget it. It’s easy to get pulled in different directions, but staying true to your original passion is key to finding happiness and staying authentic to yourself,” she said.
What’s Next for Joss Stone?
“There’s a lot on the horizon. I plan to create more music next year, and touring will continue to be a big part of my life. I’m also excited about performing with Melissa Etheridge on our co-headlining tour in 2025,” she revealed.
Joss Stone’s holiday concert in Chicago promises to be more than just a musical performance—it’s a celebration of the season’s joy and warmth. Don’t miss this unforgettable event!
